The Testarossa
always was my favorite Ferrari (The one from "Magnum"
came in close second). Anyway, this project started when I went
to the so called "Lego
World Tour" at our local Opel/GM car dealer. One of the
various displayed scenes from around the world featured a huge Ferrari
in front of Rome's Coliseum. The model was much bigger than mine
and made out of basic bricks only (including the tires). All of
the models displayed there were very old and worn and probably from
the time the real Testarossa came out. I took some pictures,
but most of them went all blurry.

Back home
I was eager to own such a model, too. But the problem was that after
building the coke-trailer and transformer, my supply of red bricks
was absolutely zero (apart from a few slope bricks).

But the
fact that the model was only made out of basic bricks gave me hope.
I used pictures
from the internet and a small scale model as reference and ordered
some red bricks and plates from shop@home. I also grabbed the last
remaining 634 sets from our local shop and opened two 2556 Ferrari
sets (and not only for the stickers!).

Additionally
I bought two 6615 sets to use the wings for the inlet vents at the
side of the car.
I ended up with building only the bodywork of the car, to see how
the final model might look like and to find out if my current supply
of red bricks was sufficient enough.
If I get my hands
on one or two additional 8880 sets, I will eventually revive this
project and build the missing chassis and interior.
Model dimension (so far):
Length: 61cm, Width:
26cm
